Dear BCC
District Category 1&2 Humanities Workshop Participants,
The first 3 hours of our
workshop are designed to be interactive online sessions. We have created some activities that will help introduce you to the history, mission, main concepts and framework of the Middle Years Programme. Completing these pre-workshop activities will allow us to delve deeper into the materials when we meet in August. Please read the blog posts below and respond to the reflection questions as blog comments. Please feel free to post any questions or doubts that you may have as you read the documents and we will be more than happy to clarify for you. Thank you for investing your time and effort in this module. Hopefully, it will allow you to get even more out of the upcoming IBMYP Category 1&2 Humanities workshop. We look forward to assisting you in your IBMYP journey.
Best,
Aurora Terry

Hey folks,
ReplyDeleteI teach World History I and am the Social Studies chair at Annandale HS in Fairfax County, VA. Annandale has been an IB school since I started there 11 years ago. While we have a well developed IB program, MYP is still in the implementation phase. In some areas (like the personal project) we're far along in our implementation, in others...there is still work to be done. I look forward to meeting folks from other schools to glean ideas of what's working for them.
Best regards,
B.
Good afternoon:
ReplyDeleteI teach Comparative Government at Annandale High School. I'm looking forward to gaining new knowledge about MYP and especially familiarizing myself with the new Humanities Guide.

At JEB Stuart, we also have a developing MYP program. We now have the challenge of applying it through new levels of the same course. I'm interested in hearing what the other schools plan to do about the application of this program, and how to make it seamless with the subject matter.
DeleteI teacher US History and American Government at Old Mill High School in Anne Arundel County, MD. I have taught at OMHS for 8 years and we have been an IB school since before I was on board. The past 2 school years have seen me teaching predominately MYP US History 9th graders. I am interested in becoming more familiar with the IB/MYP curriculum and program in general.
